April 24, 2024: Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced former movie mogul, has been admitted to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan for a series of medical examinations following his return to New York City after an appeals court overturned his 2020 rape conviction, as confirmed by his attorney on Saturday.

Attorney Arthur Aidala revealed that Weinstein was transferred to Bellevue Hospital on Friday upon his arrival in the city, indicating significant health concerns. Aidala stated, “They examined him and sent him to Bellevue. It seems like he needs a lot of help, physically. He’s got a lot of problems. He’s getting all kinds of tests. He’s somewhat of a train wreck health wise.”

Despite attempts to reach the hospital for comment, there was no immediate response to inquiries made on Saturday. However, Frank Dwyer, a spokesperson for the New York City Department of Correction, affirmed Weinstein’s continued custody at Bellevue.

NYC Court of Appeal Vacated Harvey Weinstein’s Conviction

The recent ruling by the New York Court of Appeals vacated Harvey Weinstein‘s conviction, citing procedural errors that allowed the jury to consider extraneous evidence. Consequently, his 23-year prison sentence was annulled, and a retrial was ordered. Prosecutors have announced their intention to retry Weinstein on charges related to sexual assault allegations.

Weinstein’s health issues have been a subject of concern for some time, including cardiac problems, diabetes, sleep apnea, and eye ailments. Aidala recounted speaking with Weinstein on Friday afternoon, shortly after the appeals ruling was released.

Harvey Weinstein‘s legal battles extend beyond New York, as he was previously convicted of rape in Los Angeles in 2022, receiving a 16-year prison sentence.

The developments surrounding Weinstein’s health and legal situation continue to attract widespread attention as the once-powerful Hollywood figure navigates a complex legal landscape.

On Thursday, the New York Court of Appeals vacated his conviction after concluding that a trial judge permitted jurors to see and hear too much evidence not directly related to the charges he faced.
