Monday, May 18, 2026: Actor Mouni Roy and businessman Suraj Nambiar continue to remain in the spotlight following widespread speculation about their separation, with Suraj now issuing a detailed public statement denying several rumours linked to their personal lives.
Amid growing online chatter surrounding their split, Suraj described recent reports as “malicious” and “baseless,” while firmly rejecting allegations related to alimony demands, personal disputes and the involvement of a third person. In his statement, he clarified that the decision to separate was mutual and made with respect for one another.
According to Suraj, both he and Mouni chose to part ways peacefully after careful consideration of each other’s wellbeing. He stressed that narratives suggesting conflict or financial disagreements were entirely fabricated and accused sections of the media of spreading unverified stories.
He also expressed concern over unnamed individuals being dragged into the controversy, stating that “innocent friends” were being unnecessarily targeted. Calling for restraint, Suraj said both he and Mouni had handled the situation with dignity and expected the same sensitivity from those reporting on the matter.
The businessman further criticised what he called irresponsible reporting, claiming that several stories had been published without proper verification. He added that remaining silent in the face of misinformation was no longer an option for him, prompting the decision to publicly address the rumours.
Suraj concluded the note by requesting privacy and urging people to respect the joint statement previously shared by the former couple as they move forward separately.
Earlier this month, Mouni Roy had confirmed the separation through a joint social media statement released on May 14. In the message, the former couple expressed disappointment over what they described as intrusive attention surrounding their personal lives and confirmed their decision to separate.
Mouni Roy and Suraj tied the knot in Goa on January 27, 2022, in ceremonies that blended Bengali and Malayali wedding traditions. Their wedding celebrations, including a poolside gathering, had drawn significant attention on social media at the time.
