Saturday, July 11, 2026: Mumbai Police have arrested television actor Rohit Chandel on charges of allegedly stalking, harassing and assaulting a 16-year-old girl in the city’s eastern suburbs. The actor was produced before a court on Friday, which remanded him to judicial custody.
Chandel, 29, is known for his roles in television shows such as Kashibai Bajirao Ballal and Pandya Store.
According to the police, a case has been registered against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to stalking and voluntarily causing hurt.
Investigators said the complaint alleges that Actor Rohit Chandel and the teenager were acquainted. Police claim he repeatedly contacted the girl over phone calls and, when she stopped responding, allegedly used different phone numbers to continue reaching out to her.

The situation allegedly escalated on July 5 when Chandel confronted the girl near her residence. Police said he allegedly argued with her, shouted at her, chased her and physically assaulted her.
Following the incident, the teenager approached the local police station, where an FIR was registered against the actor.
Police said they are now collecting CCTV footage from the area to verify the sequence of events. The girl’s detailed statement will also be recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have said the probe is underway, and further action will be taken based against Rohit Chandel on the evidence gathered.
