July 14, 2026: Speculation surrounding Jr. NTR’s political future has resurfaced yet again after reports claimed the actor could make a major announcement during an event in Tirupati on July 18. The rumours quickly gained traction across social media, with many suggesting that the star was preparing to follow in the footsteps of actor-turned-politician Vijay.
However, Jr. NTR’s team has now put the speculation to rest, stating that the upcoming event has no political agenda. According to the actor’s representatives, the programme is dedicated solely to the #OoruVaada social initiative and was planned well in advance, with no connection to any political party or public launch.
The clarification comes after days of intense online chatter, with political discussions adding fuel to the rumours. Fan associations also reiterated that the event is centred on social work and should not be viewed through a political lens.
Despite the denial, political buzz around Jr. NTR is nothing new.
The actor belongs to one of Andhra Pradesh’s most influential political families. He is the grandson of legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao, who founded the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1982. His father, Nandamuri Harikrishna, was a senior TDP leader and Rajya Sabha member, while his uncle, actor-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna, is a three-time MLA from the party.
Jr. NTR himself briefly stepped into the political spotlight during the 2009 Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, when he campaigned extensively for the TDP. His speeches drew massive crowds and showcased his popularity beyond cinema, sparking widespread belief that he could one day enter active politics.
However, after the campaign, the actor shifted his full attention back to films. Since then, speculation about his political debut has resurfaced from time to time, particularly during key political developments in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Observers often point to his strong fan following, commanding public presence and political lineage as reasons why every public appearance inevitably sparks fresh political chatter.
For now, though, Jr. NTR’s camp maintains that there is no political announcement on the cards. The actor remains focused on his film commitments, including his upcoming projects with directors Prashanth Neel and Trivikram Srinivas.
