Big Brother Mohan Lal remains the only reason for anyone to watch the movie that opened in theaters today. The big wish we thought the Complete Actor, deserved much more than the run of the mill action, dialogues. Even with the weak narrative he had delivered his brilliance as an all round actor.
After setting high standard with LUCIFER, the fans and the festival entertainment fans would have expected another fantastic story, but it did make you feel very incomplete.
This movie marks Mohanlal’s 3rd collaboration with director Siddique, after Vietnam Colony and Ladies.
Story: Mohanla as Sachidanandan had been in jail for 24 years for twin murders. He killed two men – a person who troubled his stepmother and a cop who troubled his friends in jail. He accomplishes freedom due to his younger brother played by Sarjano Khali, who calls him BigBrother Manu
The life in jail leaves a haunting scar on Sachidanandan and he finds it difficult to lead a normal life. The twist in the story begins when Manu gets kidnapped and Sachidanandan chooses his path to nab the kidnappers and rescue his brother.
While the movie had a huge star cast line up with actors like Anoop Menon, Arbaaz Khan, the reason you will sit through the film is because of Mohanlal’s screen presence and for his style, elegance and thrilling fight scenes.
It is a racy film, with action scenes one after another at times, while comedy scenes were infused with Vishnu Unnikrishnan’s one liners the narrative seems to have lost somewhere, and makes you feel loosely stitched..
Weak editing, and an over-reliance on slow motion to highlight action moves and stunts also becomes overbearing.
Big Brother is only for Mohanlal fans who love to watch him in larger-than-life roles.
