Parasite The Big Surprise at Oscars 2020 The movie created a big stir and a record at this year’s Oscars by becoming: the film the first non-English movie to win best picture at Oscars.
The hugely popular, entertaining South Korean film, which highlighted class distinction through the relationships of the Park and Kim families was the biggest surprise of all. As it took home the best director award for Bong Joon Ho, best international film, and the original screenplay award. This was indeed historic, as the first foreign film getting the top honors at Oscars this year.
The other awards were not of a surprise though as “1917” took home 3wins, followed by “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood,” “Ford vs. Ferarri,” and “Joker,” each with two well deserving awards.
Joaquin Phoenix and Renee Zellweger took the top honors as Best Actor for Joker and best actress for her performance ‘Judy’, and Brad Pitt and Laura Dern cornered the best supporting actor and actress categories.
