Actor Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone took to social media to announce the cricketing movie release is on hold, due to Corona Virus affecting the industry, cinemas and people.
In his message the actor shared: In the wake of the risks posed by the recent outbreak of COVID-19 and the growing health concerns, the release of 83 has been put on hold. We will take decision regarding the next course of action once the conditions return to normal.
We urge our fans to take all the necessary precautions and take care of their loved ones.
83 is a film about fighting the odds and we hope we all will bounce back from this soon. with love Team 83.

83 is an upcoming Indian Cricketing sports film directed by Kabir Khan and jointly produced by Khan, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Phantom Films, Deepika Padukone. It recreates the magic of Kapil Dev and his devils in 1983, fighting against all the odds and winning the world cup. For the first time India beat the powerful west indian team to win the cup and thrill millions of cricketing fans in India and around the world.
The film stars Ranveer Singh as cricketer Kapil Dev, along with Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Jiiva, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Nishant Dahiya, and Sahil Khattar. The story narrates Dev’s journey of life as well as how he became the captain of the India national cricket team and won the 1983 Cricket World Cup.
