The couple are the first major US celebrities known to have contracted COVID-19. The coronavirus has infected more than several hundred people in the US, which is among the most affected countries in the world after China and Europe.

Tom Hanks COVID situation was reported on March 12, by the actor himself on twitter, wherein he had posted both he and Rita had tested positive for COVID in Australia.

The 63 year old actor was in Australia with Rita where he is working on a film after they felt tired and achy with slight fevers. During the same time Hanks stated
Hanks was in Australia to shoot for an upcoming movie about Elvis Presley. The actor in the movie is set to play the role of Presley’s manager, Colonel Tom Parker, in the Warner Bros production.
“We have been made aware that a company member from our Elvis feature film, which is currently in pre-production in The Gold Coast, Australia, has tested positive for COVID-19,” Warner Bros said in a statement earlier.
During the period in Australia, Rita Wilson appeared on a chat show on free-to-air broadcaster Nine Entertainment. The couple were staying in Gold Coast Region where the Elvis Biopic is being shot. Meanwhile, the state had announced that the Elvis biopic filming has been closed down.
“Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We’ll keep the world posted and updated,” Hanks tweeted.
Now it is a happy news as the actor and Rita are back in US.
