Revisiting ‘Mankatha’ Ajith’s super thriller, is worth it

Story: Set in the city of Mumbai, Vinayak Mahadevan (Ajith) a rebel Mumbai cop under suspension, meets Arumuga Chettiyar (Jayaprakash), who runs a gambling den and a theatre which plays second run movies and controls international betting syndicate known for their cricket match fixing. Chettiyar?s daughter Sanjana (Trisha) falls for Vinayak. The only thing that interests Vinayak is money and nothing more.

The story leads us to Vinayak teaming up with four guys – Sumanth (Vaibhav) who is Chettiyar’s accountant, Mahath (Mahath) a guy who runs a night club, local cop Ganesh (Ashwin) and a computer nerd Prem (Premgi Amaran).

Their plan: To rob Chettiyars Rs 500 crore betting money coming in as US dollars in a container lorry for the finals of the IPL. On the good man side is the CBI officer Prithviraj (Arjun) who heads the anti-betting squad who is all out to stop this happening.

The climax is the most exciting, and arresting moment in the movie and makes ajith fans roar in theters. It is a well woven cat and mouse game that keeps you glued to the movie throughout.

Filled with romance of Ajith and Trishna, some of the finest scenes is when Arjun saves Vaibhav who is on the run which is brilliantly shot.

After Ajith comic character Premgi Amaran gets the maximum screen space with Arjun who in his trademark style keeps the movie thoroughly absorbing.
