The story is about Tarun Naik Raikar (Honey Kamboj) , a dispirited man and extremely angry at his cousin Etasha (Parul Gulati) for not attending his calls and faults his family for his step to stand on the edge of a cliff……about to take his next step to jump from the cliff.
Despite efforts to convince him not to take the extreme step, Tarun who is at the edge fo the clip leaps to death. Enters SP John Pereira (Neil Bhoopalam) declaring Tarun’s death a murder and not a suicide.
What is intriguing is what led him to choose death? a series of thoughts run in your mind -Was it a murder? What is the cause of his death? Is it a murder? There are a series of hidden questions that keeps pricking your mind as you binge watch Aditya Sarpotdar’s whodunnit drama “The Raikar Case“.
Voot attempt to create a thriller , based on true events -is a good one as the writers Bijesh Jayarajan and Anaitha Nair story does get the viewers entangled in the mystery. Ashvini Bhave, Kunal Karan Kapoor, Reena Wadhwa and Lalit Prabhakar are those suspected for the murder.
To keep the binge watching element on a high every episode starts unveiling the potential motives to make you believe ( the suspects) he or she is responsible for the murder of the youngest member of the family. The twists and turns are absorbing, much needed in a thriller, the story also takes twists at crucial part of the story and lead you to watch further.
The opening episode which begins with a question …Murder or Suicide? is a perfect take off for The Raiker Case Journey. As it moves to the Hunt for the killer, followed by finding evidence, buried hidden secrets , the raiker versus raiker episode , truth over family and finally…the finale Whodunit episode in which the identity of the murderer is not revealed until the end is quite gripping.
If you love thriller and during lock down want something to binge on TV this might be something you can watch. It wont disappoint you. It is not perfect, as you dissect but it is simply engaging. The series cast are also well thought and the director has ensured that all the characters seamlessly weave into the story.
Switch on the TV … you might enjoy it… as the story try to unravel ….Sometimes, the murderer is the one you suspect the least.
