Prime Video Paatal Lok Review; Its a terrific world you never knew existed, watch it ; Anushka Sharma has done well to choose a subject like Paatal Lok to debut her first show on Prime Video as a producer. She has used her acting instinct and industry experience to bring out one of the finest engaging show on TV.
It is a start to finish crime thrilled that keeps you glued to the TV. We are quite impressed with the casting and the story narration. Quite gripping, and it is a show you shouldn’t miss if you like the crime thriller genre.
The trailer of Paatal Lok had generated lot of buzz already as a show that will take people to a journey of the dark side of our universe. As we call it Paatal Lok. And it does not disappoint you.
It is an engaging crime thriller, the show produced by Anushka Sharma story revolves around the murder of a local, bookseller/academic. A attempt and a plot to assassinate a journalist.
The series keeps you hooked from opening scene itself, backed by some solid writing that keeps the viewers hooked to the TV for continuous, six hours’ .
The show leads you to understand what Paatal Lok is all about, with the lead character, a Delhi Police beat-cop explanation about three worlds: Swarg lok (heaven, where Gods live), dharti lok (earth, for humans), and pataal lok (netherworld, where insects survive).
His local police station located in the Outer Jamuna Park, economically backward region in the outskirts of Delhi, is all what pataal lok is all about.
The thing about Paatal Lok is it is a bindass place, and a carefree zone where nobody cares what happens out there, even crimes that take place in the pataal lok. The show defines Lutyens’ Delhi, nation’s political capital, is swarg lok, yes; but what happens in heaven, stays in heaven — it’s useless for a cop to operate in.
What is of interest to know and understand what happens in the high society , high class strata of people living in colonies in Delhi region like the Vasant Vihar, Noida, and other prominent locales — where the insects from pataal lok, on occasion, bite inhabitants of dharti lok, which then becomes kaand/scandal (Aarushi, Nithari, etc).
It is a deeply entrenched intriguing story, which covers multiple characters, leading to multiple, diverse sub-plots. It does make you feel very complex but the writer has done well for the viewers to know the characters, live in them and begin to enjoy the stories and people in it, and there are other people whom you may agree or disagree.
The lead actor and the lead character played by Jaideep Ahlawat as the over the top, loud mouthed cop Hathi Ram Chowdhry — is rock solid, and tough looking. He has done extremely well to carry the show on his shoulders as his character is journey into hell and back. Jaideep is an actor who was praised for his commendable performance in the past in movies like (Raazi, Raees, Lust Stories). This one is one notch above for the actor.
Paatal Lok as it stands shows you the world we live which has the good, bad, ugly, deprived, high and mighty circled around by the law makers, lawless people
It is quite a different one, and one shouldn’t miss a different take about the world we live in
