Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the well known film maker announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19. The National Award winning director was shooting Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi in Mumbai’s Goregaon Film City. A source close to the film’s team has confirmed the same with us.
The source tells us, “SLB has tested positive for Covid-19, and he is under self quarantine, Alia too has quarantined herself since SLB and Ranbir both have tested positive. Everybody who has come in contact with Sanjay have taken the test.”
The source also added that the director’s mother, Leela Bhansali is doing fine. They said, “After Sanjay tested positive, the first thing he did was to get his mother tested too, she has tested negative for for the virus and is doing fine but she has also quarantined herself as a precautionary measure.”
SLB has been shooting for Gangubai Kathiawadi in Mumbai. Actor Ajay Devgn also joined the film’s team recently for a cameo. While the filmmaker is under self quarantine, the cast and crew of the film too have quarantined themselves and are undergoing COVID-19 test.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is one of the finest filmmakers Bollywood has ever witnessed and there are no second thoughts about it. He is known for giving some spectacular movies and now he is all set to make a new addition to his list of movies with Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt in the lead.
The movie is based on a chapter from Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai that is about a woman named, Gangubai Kothewali. And while the audience is looking forward to the movie, the makers welcomed Ajay Devgn on the board as he will be seen playing a key role in the movie.
Interestingly, Ajay also shared the big news on his social media account as he posted a pic of himself with Bhansali from the sets of Gangubai Kathiawadi and stated that he feels good to be work with Bhansali.

In the pic, Ajay was dressed in a black t-shirt and was holding the script of the movie while he was having a conversation with the filmmaker. To note, the Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior actor has collaborated with Bhansali after 22 years. They had last worked on Bhansali’s 1999 release Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam with Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai in the lead. Ajay captioned the image as, “Back on Sanjay’s set after two decades; feels good!”
