Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea after a spectacular opening in theatres, arrived on Amazon Prime today. The super star Mohanlal Indian epic war movie directed by veteran filmmaker, Priyadarshan set in 16th century Calicut and focuses on Kunjal.
Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea happens to be a biopic based on Kunjali Marakkar the 4th, who is considered one of the greatest naval chiefs of India. It is the story of the epic war waged against the Portuguese invaders led by the fearless seafarer of the Malabar Coast who later became the naval commander of the Zamorin, the ruler of Calicut.
South superstar Mohanlal plays the titular role in the film titled Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea which is all set to stream on Amazon Prime Video in India starting December 17, 2021. It will be available in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages respectively.
The Amazon Help Twitter page today confirmed that the movie Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea will launch from 12 AM IST, responding to a fan on social media.

Marakkar is the most expensive film ever made in Malayalam cinema, Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea bagged the Best Feature Film, Best Special Effects, and Best Costume awards at the 67th National Film Awards in October 2021.
The film is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar, who is regarded as India’s first naval commander. Kunjali Marakkar (Mohanlal) is the protagonist of the storey, which takes place in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. After his family is brutally slain, Kunjali goes to the jungle and becomes a Robin Hood for the poor. The film is a lavishly staged period play drawn from different novels and written writings on Kunjali Marakkar.
