Alia Bhatt on Thursday surprised her fans with a sneak peak into her next, Brahmastra. The talented actress, who did an Ask Me Anything session with her fans recently, received a lot of requests to share details about the magnum opus, also starring Ranbir Kapoor. The actor promised her followers that something special was coming their way.

Keeping her promise, Alia took to her Instagram account and posted two new clicks from the sets of Brahmastra, which also features Ranbir and director Ayan Mukerji. In one of the photos, the trio is sitting in front of the idol of Goddess Kaali. In the second one, they are seated in the same temple with a sheet of paper, presumably the film’s script in hand.

Alia Bhatt will also be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali for a story on one of the Mafia Queens of Bombay. Alia plays the titular role of Gangubai Kathiawadi, inspired by her life.

Gangubai became one of the most famous women in Mumbai in the 60s. Forced into prostitution when she was only 16, Gangubai reportedly developed connections with people from the underworld. She was known to get the seths to loosen the strings of their purses and soon came to dominate the brothels of Kamathipura in Mumbai.

Karim Lala was an underworld don who operated liquor dens, gambling and extortion rackets from the sixties to the early eighties. One of his men reportedly raped Gangubai brutally and she went to Lala to demand justice. She ended up becoming Karim Lala’s ‘rakhi sister’.
