Actor Amanda Bynes has been placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold after being seen wandering the streets of Los Angeles without clothes. According to reports, the 36-year-old actor flagged down a passing car and called 911 for help, saying she was coming down from a “psychotic episode”. She was then taken to a police station.

“The fact that Amanda Bynes flagged a car down, told them she was having a psychotic episode and called 911 herself actually gives me a lot of hope for her well-being,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

Bynes, who began her career as a child actor in Nickelodeon’s comedy series All That, has struggled with mental health issues in the past. In 2013, she was placed under a personal conservatorship after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She was also sent to a psychiatric ward for help after a series of incidents, including setting fire to her neighbor’s driveway and almost setting her dog on fire.

The incident occurred almost a year after the court terminated Bynes’ conservatorship, which she had been under since 2013. She submitted a petition to dissolve the arrangement, which was supported by her parents, Lynn and Rick Bynes.
