November 10, 2025: Hyderabad witnessed musical magic and an epic concert on Saturday night as AR Rahman returned to the city after seven years for his much-awaited second performance. The maestro drew an unprecedented crowd, their chants echoing across the vast expanse of Ramoji Film City, celebrating the return of the musical legend.

The maestro made a dramatic entrance, rising from beneath the stage in his signature jacket and tinted glasses, greeted by a thunderous ovation that shook the venue. Presented by Hyderabad Talkies, EVA Live, and Xora, the evening unfolded as a grand celebration of unity, nostalgia, and pure musical brilliance, a night where every note echoed the spirit of Rahman himself.

The music genius aptly themed his concert as one with “the soul of national integration,” a tribute to the unity his music has always inspired. He opened the evening with the stirring “Jana Gana Mana” from the film Yuva, instantly setting the tone for a night charged with emotion and energy.

As AR Rahman transitioned from one electrifying number to the next, the massive crowd of over 50,000 fans erupted in joy, singing along to every lyric, clapping in rhythm, and cheering the maestro at every turn. The air was electric; every note was met with thunderous applause as Hyderabad celebrated a night to remember.

What followed was a spellbinding musical journey, a masterclass in storytelling through sound. Instead of performing his songs in a set or chronological order, Rahman curated an emotional experience, weaving together his most loved compositions like “Rang De Basanti,” “Fanaa,” “Dil Se Re,” “Yuva,” “Chinna Chinna Aasai,” “Mustafa Mustafa,” and the global anthem “Jai Ho.”

The evening took a joyful turn when A R Rahman surprised everyone with a Punjabi bhangra number, performed live for the first time, right here in Hyderabad. The crowd danced with pure delight as a brilliant Colombian drummer took the energy to another level. Later, the mood softened with the romantic ballad “Hossana” from Ye Maaya Chesave, filling the venue with emotion as Rahman playfully asked, “Ladies, are you feeling the romance? Wanna sing with me?”

Adding extra sparkle to the evening were actors Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor joined AR Rahman on stage to unveil their upcoming movie track “Chikri Chikri” from their film Peddi, composed by Rahman himself.

The excitement soared even higher when Rahman’s son, AR Ameen, took the mic to perform the song live, leaving the audience completely spellbound.

Rahman’s deep respect for Telugu music was evident throughout the night. “Telugu is where my musical journey began,” he shared, reflecting on his early days at AVM Studios alongside legends like Ilayaraja and MS Viswanathan. “I come from an era where I mingled with Kannada, Malayalam, mostly Telugu and Tamil. To see Telugu cinema evolve and gain global recognition with films like Baahubali, Pushpa, and RRR is incredible. Nattu Nattu winning an Oscar is a proud moment for all of us.” He also highlighted how many foundational keertanas are rooted in Telugu tradition, highlighting the region’s rich musical heritage.
