Actor Jeremy Renner, best known for his roles in the Avengers franchise and The Bourne Legacy, recently revealed on Instagram that he broke over 30 bones in a snow ploughing accident earlier this month.

In the post, Renner shared a picture of himself lying in bed while exercising with his physiotherapist, with the caption, “Morning workouts, resolutions all changed this particular new years …. Spawned from tragedy for my entire family, and quickly focused into uniting actionable love.”

Renner went on to express his gratitude for the outpouring of love and support he and his family have received, saying, “I want to thank EVERYONE for their messages and thoughtfulness for my family and I …. Much love and appreciation to you all.”

According to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred near Renner’s home in Reno, Nevada on New Year’s Day, when he was assisting a family member whose vehicle had gotten stuck in the snow. After successfully freeing the vehicle, Renner got out of the snow plow to speak to the family member when the plow began to roll and run him over. Renner was airlifted to a hospital and underwent surgery.

Renner’s family released an official statement confirming Jeremy Renner‘s injuries and surgery, saying, “We can confirm that Jeremy has suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and has undergone surgery today, January 2nd 2023. He has returned from surgery and remains in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition.”
