August 7, 20204: Actor and social media influencer Avneet Kaur is under scrutiny after a homegrown jewellery brand, Rang, accused her of failing to honor her brand promotion commitments. Rang has shared screenshots on Instagram documenting their communications with Kaur, where she purportedly agreed to promote their jewellery in exchange for pieces worn during her recent European vacation.

According to Rang, Kaur had promised to tag the brand in her social media posts following the receipt of nine jewellery pieces, including double floral earrings, a twisted loop handcuff bracelet, and leaf motif earrings. The brand’s Instagram post highlighted that Kaur wore their jewellery multiple times during her trip, alongside outfits from high-end labels such as Dior and Vivienne Westwood.

Jewellery Brand Alleges Avneet Kaur’s Failure to Promote in Social Media Deal

However, Rang claimed that Avneet Kaur only tagged luxury brands and allegedly sourced her accessories from them. When confronted through her stylist, Kaur reportedly offered to pay for the jewellery, asking, “Hey, I will pay them. How much is it?”

Upon Kaur’s return, Rang sent an invoice for the jewellery pieces, requesting payment. Kaur then reportedly changed her stance, stating she would not pay as it was a collaboration and claimed she had not worn the pieces as frequently as suggested, proposing only to post an Instagram story.

Akanksha Negi from Rang commented on the situation, saying, “This was a terrible experience with an influencer. The exploitation of small business brands and stylists by celebrities and influencers is frustrating. Having a large social media following does not justify such behavior. We are a small business and will not tolerate this treatment.”

Following Rang’s disclosure, Mittal Brahmbhatt, owner of The Closet, a clothing brand, revealed a similar issue with Kaur. “I reached out to Akanksha because I faced a similar problem with Avneet Kaur. She sourced clothes from The Closet with a verbal agreement to post photos and credit our brand. Despite receiving the items, she did not post anything for months. After persistent attempts to contact her, she finally posted, but by then the collection was out of stock and no longer available for us to restock.”

Efforts to reach Kaur and her team for a response have been unsuccessful. Kaur’s stylist has also confirmed that she has been unresponsive to communications regarding payments to the brands.

Avneet Kaur began her acting career in 2012 with the TV show Meri Maa and gained prominence with her role in the 2023 film Tiku Weds Sheru. She has also appeared in TV shows such as Ek Mutthi Aasmaan, Savitri – Ek Prem Kahani, Chandra Nandini, and Aladdin – Naam Toh Suna Hoga. Kaur recently attracted attention with her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival.
