The Besharam song, from Shah Rukh Khan’s forthcoming film Pathaan, has raised a huge uproar, as it hurts the sentiments of the Hindu community, Now the Pathaan community has also expressed displeasure and called for a boycott. The controversy around the film ‘Pathaan’ is hitting a new high.

After several Hindu organisations raised concerns over the film, several Muslim organisations in Madhya Pradesh have also demanded a ban on the release of ‘Pathaan’.

In reponse to the Besharam Song controversy, actor Shah Rukh Khan, speaking in another context on Thursday said that no matter what the world does, positive people are alive. Khan was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival.

According to an India Today report, the Ulema Board has expressed that the film is a ‘highly respectable community– Pathaans’. The board’s president Syed Anas Ali objected to the ‘obscenity’ in the movie and also said that the All India Muslim Festival Committee has boycotted the film.

“A film named Pathaan has been made in which Shah Rukh Khan is the hero, people see him and like him. But we have received calls and complaints and they have expressed anger over the obscenity that has been spread inside this film and Islam has been propogated wrongly.

“It is our right not to compromise on how someone will present our Islam, our religion,” he added. He also said that ‘such films are made to make fun of Islam and Muslims.’

“If someone presents the wrong definition of Islam, then it is our responsibility to present the correct definition of our religion,” he said and appealed to the censor board to let the film be screened anywhere. After the song Besharam Rang was released. #BoycottPathaan started trending on Twitter as many objected to Deepika donning a saffron bikini song.

Shah Rukh Khan’s statement around the Besharam Song Controversy in the form of a modified dialogue from his upcoming film. The actor talked about negativity on social media and cinema’s role in such a scenario. “Apni kursi ki peti baand lije mausam bigadne wala hai. yahan per nahin aaye hain, aaplogon se mukhatif nahin ho pae hain, aap logon se mil nahin paaye hain, lekin ab duniya normal hogayee hai. Pathaan is releasing worldwide on January 25, 2023.
