Bheeshma Parvam Review: The Mammootty movie is a total treat for his fans and has several whistle blowing moments. His flamboyant slow motions and epic dialogues will leave you asking for more. The performance by Soubin is equally impressive which everyone seems to acknowledge in theatres.

Bheeshma Parvam is a reunion of Mammootty the actor with ace filmmaker Amal Neerad, who directed him in the cult film Big B, and is touted to be a treat for the mass audience. So will the gangster drama be able to set the box office on fire.

The movie is a revisit to our past in the 80s and the filmmakers puts you on a flashback mode quite remarkably by presenting nostalgic moments that of olden times modern bread, vintage cars and the days of cassettes, VCR and walkman.

In Bheeshma Parvam, Mammootty, as Michael, plays a character as the head an influential family seeped in crime and does the balancing act between family and dharma.

The film is an all out Mammootty show and watching him deliver slow action scenes with class is a visual treat. Sushin Shyam adds musical brilliance in the film throughout.

Mammukka’s baritone voice and superb action scenes in this crime action drama has all the ingredients of success. The plot revolves around prevalent social issues like honour killing, beef ban and caste discrimination. It particularly takes a strong stand against honour killing as the movie begins by reminding us of Kevin and Neenu when the credits pan out. Mammootty also makes a statement in the movie that the family’s decision is to stand with any two individuals in love with each other.

Soubin stands out in the movie. Besides Nadhiya Moidu, Sreenath Bhasi, Shine Tom Chacko and Dileesh Pothan. It was also very heartwarming to see late actors Nedumudi Venu and KPAC Lalitha on screen again and was a treat to watch them come alive.

Where to watch Bheeshma Parvam in Kerala

The characters played by them will easily remind you of the wicked ‘Dakini’ from ‘Balarama’ comics. Perhaps the only let down by the director Amal Neerad was the copy lift of some scenes and dialogues from Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Sarkar’. For a story so powerfully presented, it could have been avoided.

Sudev Nair, plays Rajan, the antagonist in the movie. However, Mammootty is all-powerful like Bheeshma and even says that he has control over his own death, so there is very little Rajan could do in such a scenario. The song ‘Parudeesa…’ was already a hit even before the film’s release and Shyam’s magic works well throughout the 144 minutes duration.

On March 3rd, Mammootty’s son Dulquer Salman starrer ‘Hey Sinamika’ co starring Aditi Rao Hydari, and Kajal Aggarwal also opens in theartres. The romantic film directed by choreographer Brinda Master is being released in four languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.

Dulquer Salmaan plays the character of Yaazhan, a Radio Jockey, which has several women technicians working on it. Preetha Jayaraman is the cinematographer of the film, which has editing by Radha Sridhar
