Mumbai, February 6, 2025: Loveyapa garnered full marks from celebrities who were out in full force this Wednesday to attend the star-studded screening of the movie, the upcoming romantic-comedy featuring Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film is set to hit theaters on February 7, 2025, and has already garnered a great deal of buzz following its special screening.
In an exclusive video shared by the film’s team, several top Bollywood personalities could be seen praising Loveyapa. Veteran actor Dharmendra lauded the natural performances of Junaid and Khushi, calling it a “story of every home” and emphasizing how the young actors portrayed their roles in an authentic and relatable manner. He added, “Never did it seem like they were acting.”
Other notable celebrities, including Ali Fazal and Shabana Azmi joined the chorus of praise. Fazal gave the film a thumbs-up, while Azmi described it as “very nice,” remarking that it offers an insightful commentary on society’s obsession with smartphones. Renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar also weighed in, calling Loveyapa a “wonderful, very different movie,” highlighting its unique take on modern-day relationships.
Loveyapa Sells 2400 tickets
However, while the reviews from Bollywood’s elite are glowing, the movie’s advance booking numbers are slightly underwhelming. As of Thursday afternoon, Loveyapa has sold approximately 2,400 tickets across the top three national chains – PVRInox, and Cinepolis. Though this figure may suggest a modest opening day, industry experts are hopeful that word of mouth could propel the film’s weekend earnings to new heights.
Despite initial hurdles, including unexpected competition from Badass Ravikumar and the re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam, the film’s distributors remain optimistic. They anticipate a first-day box office collection ranging between Rs 1 crore to Rs 1.2 crore. A successful weekend could potentially double those numbers and give Loveyapa the momentum it needs.
Loveyapa, a remake of the hit Tamil film Love Today, comes with the added pressure of being the debut for Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid, and Sridevi’s daughter, Khushi. With the youth-oriented content of the film, there’s hope that the younger audience will embrace the film over the weekend and help push the box office numbers to a stronger position.
