Then news is few top celebs are being summoned to the bureau for their statement that include Deepika Padukone, Rakul Preet. Deepika who is currently shooting in Goa is reported to return to Mumbai in the afternoon. The actress has been summoned by Narcotics Control Bureau as her name emerged during the interrogation of Sushant Singh Rajput‘s talent manager Jaya Saha in the Bollywood drug nexus case.
According to Times Now‘s latest report, Deepika has received permission for a charter plane from Goa at 1:30 PM today. Meanwhile, reports also suggests that she has sought legal advice through video conferencing with a team of lawyers. Her husband Ranveer Singh was also reported to be a part of the video meet.
Actors Deepika Padukone and Shraddha Kapoor have been summoned for questioning based on WhatsApp chats from 2017 involving drugs, sources have told NDTV. These chats were found on the mobile phone of talent agent Jaya Saha, who has been questioned in an escalating drugs probe linked to the Sushant Singh Rajput death investigations.
Jaya Saha was a former talent manager of Sushant Singh Rajput, a 34-year-old actor who was found dead at his Mumbai apartment on June 14. She was among the many questioned after WhatsApp messages retrieved from the phone of Sushant Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty revealed conversations on procuring drugs.
Two more prominent actors, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh, have also been summoned by the Narcotics Control Bureau. Their names allegedly came up during the questioning of actor Rhea Chakraborty, Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend, who was arrested on September 9 on charges of arranging drugs for him.
Apart from Deepika, Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan have also been summoned by the NCB for questioning in the drugs case. On the other hand, Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer has confirmed that her bail plea will be heard today by Justice Sarang Kotwal.
Deepika Padukone has been summoned on Friday and Rakul Preet Singh tomorrow. Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor will be questioned on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde has claimed that the Jalebi actor has not named anybody in her statement regarding the drug links in Bollywood. His statement came after the Narcotics Control Bureau summoned Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh in relation to a drug case related to Sushant Singh Rajput death.
Maneshinde said in a TV interview, “Rhea Chakraborty has not named anybody in her statement. If NCB or anybody is making a statement that she has leaked, it’s totally false. There is no thread of evidence that suggests that Rhea Chakraborty has named anybody apart from what Sushant Singh Rajput had consumed all his life when she was with him.”
On being asked about chats exchanged between Rhea and Sushant’s manager Jaya Saha, he said, “What Jaya Saha did with Sushant and Rhea was only prescribe or send CBD oil which is an extract of ganja leaves, which is not a narcotic substance. You can see on the bottle of CBD that it does not contain any narcotic substance.”
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), which is probing an alleged Bollywood-drugs nexus, on Wednesday summoned actors Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khanand Rakul Preet Singh among others for questioning, an official said. He added Deepika has been called to record her statement on September 25, Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor on September 26 while Rakul Preet Singh, Rajput’s talent manager Shruti Modi and designer Simone Khambata have been asked to appear on Thursday.
Earlier, NCB sources had claimed that there was a “reference” to Rakul Preet Singh and Sara Ali Khan in the statement of Rhea. The NCB has arrested actor Rhea for alleged procurement and use of drugs.
