Coronavirus Scare, Will Theaters bear the brunt too?

Lets be careful: COVID-19 is still affecting mostly people in China with some outbreaks in other countries. Most people who become infected experience mild illness and recover, but it can be more severe for others. As many conventions, large public gatherings, events like the Olympics in Japan lying in uncertainty. Will it effect movies collections in theaters?

The most vulnerable areas for corona virus are places where there is gathering of large number of people, and there could be some people unaware of being infected being there. There is an increasing concern worldwide.

Some of the biggest movies release in the coming months are Baaghi3, Sheer Qorma, Sher Shah, Khuda Hafiz, Shakuntala Devi, Angrezi Medium, Chhalaang, Sandeep aur pinky farrar, Sooryavanshi, Firrkie and few more.

Movie theaters are among the places where people tend to gather in large numbers, and stay long for over 3 hours inside a hall. So, if it effects new movie releases and collections at the gate, it will be huge financial loss to film makers. While there are the financial and economic factors at risk. The health of all humans is becoming increasingly significant.

The World Health Organisation has released a note about being aware, alert and follow the following guidelines. So it is advisable for people going to theaters to follow these to contain spread of virus in places of entertainment, where people gather. While we hope that it is contained early and we wont face home containment.

Let’s all work towards containment of the virus and help minimize its spread.

Here are some of the efforts individual can follow to avoid virus contact. As per the WHO guidelines.

Be Safe:

Wash your hands frequently

Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.

Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.

Maintain social distancing

Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

Why? When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease.
