    COVID19: Bollywood displays ‘Herd Immunity’

    It is a one of the most saddest news the Bollywood industry, and the cinema had to face in one of the most toughest times the mankind is facing today due to COVID19 Outbreak. The loss of young actor Irrfan Khan, followed by the legendary Rishi Kapoor.

    What is even more shocking is the way the most respected, celebrated, humans, whom millions follow and follow their testaments closely, have forgotten the fundamental protocol to follow lock down procedures. Wear mask, social distancing – which was completely given a miss.

    The funeral of the legendary actor, deserved a salute for his body of work and his way of life, it is also a very emotional and highly charged moment for the family. But, those who visited to pay the respects to the star, just forgot to do what every Indian have been doing over the last 2 lock down. In fact many of them present at the funeral also had cheered, saluted and stood in solidarity when the Prime Minister announced the lock down and also told Indians to salute the work of covid warriors.

    Looks like the bollywood fraternity young and old believe they have “Herd Immunity”???? – a natural immunity to COVID pandemic. So, they went about not only disregarding the protocols, risked their lives and in turn risked the lives of several thousands of people who came to pay tribute to the actor. It is not a moment of bashing but it is a moment of caring for yourself and caring of all those who follow you and respect you for what you are. You are symbolic and what we need is commitment to social responsibility. We all know it is a televised event, and if all would have followed the protocols, it would have been a great tribute to the actor and to millions who are watching.

    In a normal life, The legend would have millions of people in the funeral, and also get state salute like he did. But, what is also important is that we do what matters the most now, for the future. That too, in a state where the pandemic had the most severe impact.

    So, is there a need for lock down? Don’t you think people will get stimulated to break the protocols, even though now we have Red, Orange and Yellow zones.

    It is regretful to see, as we love our idols and we want them to be safe and spread the message of staying home , staying safe.

    As an actor, Rishi Kapoor from his childhood to now have enthralled many with his terrific performances, He is loved for his forthrightness and his conviction for what he stands for.

    Have we forgotten what the great actor said, and wrote before he departed from this world. In his message he wrote: If to be believe how this Coronavirus erupted, every country in the world should take the country where it started to task. Highly irresponsible doing endangering lives and causing huge damage to humanity. Please be safe all. We will tide over it.

    In the work front, Rishi Kapoor’s last outing was ‘The Body’ featuring Emraan Hashmi, Sobhita Dhulipala and Vedhika. We all were also excited when the news broke his next project will be Hindi remake of ‘The Intern’ with Deepika Padukone.
