Dev Patel debut directorial venture “Monkey Man” trailer which has been released by Universal Pictures has garnered good views, and builds lot of expectation from the movie. This film also stars Dev in the lead role as a new action hero. The movie will hit theatres in April, 5, 2024.
The trailer showcases Dev performing thrilling fight and chase sequences, that brings to the forefront the skills of Patel as an emerging Hollywood director with a panache to make spell binding movies.
Inspired by the legend of Lord Hanuman, “Monkey Man” is set in Mumbai and features the “Lion” star as a man on a quest for vengeance against the corrupt leaders who murdered his mother and continue to systemically victimise the poor and powerless.
The trailer brings to the fore Patel fighting in a ring, engaging in hand-to-hand combat with Kher and also taking on multiple criminals in a style reminiscent of contemporary Hollywood action heroes who excel in stylish and modern combat.

In the movie, Monkey Man, Dev takes on the role of Kid, an unidentified young man scraping together a modest income within an underground fight club. Night after night, concealed behind a gorilla mask, he endures brutal beatings from more renowned fighters in exchange for monetary rewards.
“After years of suppressed rage, the boy discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him,” the official slug line read.

The film also features popular Indian actors Sobhita Dhulipala, Vipin Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, Adithi Kalkunte, Sikandar Kher, Pitobash and Makarand Deshpande, along with Sharlto Copley.
Thunder Road Films, one of the producers of “John Wick” franchise, is also backing “Monkey Man”.
The film is produced by Patel, Jomon Thomas, Oscar-winning filmmaker Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, Ian Cooper, Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Christine Haebler, and Anjay Nagpal.
Patel has developed the movie ‘Monkey Man‘ from his original story. He wrote the screenplay along with Paul Angunawela and John Collee.
