December 21, 2025: Dhurandhar has quickly turned into one of the biggest box office stories of the year. The Ranveer Singh and most loved Akshay Khanna’s spy thriller, which released in theatres on December 5, has crossed the ₹500 crore mark in India in just 15 days, the fastest any Hindi film has achieved the milestone so far.

The film’s producers, Jio Studios, confirmed the achievement on social media, sharing that Dhurandhar earned ₹23.70 crore on its 15th day. With that, the film’s total India net collection now stands at ₹503.20 crore. The studio described the moment as a record-breaking one, calling it the quickest ₹500 crore run by a Hindi film.

Until now, the benchmark for speed at the box office was held by big-ticket releases like Jawan, which crossed ₹500 crore in 18 days, and Stree 2, which reached the mark in over three weeks. While Pushpa 2: The Rule entered the ₹500 crore club faster, it was a Telugu-language, pan-India release. Dhurandhar now stands alone at the top among Hindi films.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar places Ranveer Singh in the role of Hamza, an Indian intelligence operative working undercover in Karachi. The narrative draws from real incidents linked to India’s recent history, offering a tense, grounded take on espionage and national security. The film also features Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R Madhavan in key roles.

Industry observers point to several reasons behind the film’s sustained momentum. The storytelling unfolds in clearly defined chapters, making it easier for younger audiences used to episodic formats to stay engaged.

The music, featuring collaborations with artists like Diljit Dosanjh and Hanumankind, has gained popularity well beyond the film itself. Action sequences are stylised and impactful, matching audience expectations without overwhelming the narrative.

Another factor working in the film’s favour is the absence of excessive pre-release noise. Much like this year’s surprise romantic hit Saiyaara, Dhurandhar built its audience organically. Strong word-of-mouth and a widely shared soundtrack helped draw viewers into theatres, allowing the film to grow steadily rather than peak early.

With collections still holding firm in its third week, Dhurandhar appears set for a long run ahead, and has already secured its place as one of Hindi cinema’s fastest and biggest box office successes.
