Dayaben’s brother has rubbished reports of Disha Vakani suffering from throat cancer. He reveals that Disha Vakani is in good health. This follows certain recent media reports, that the performer, who left Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has throat cancer as a result of the unusual voice she uses for the character Dayaben in the programme.
Mayur Vakani, who portrays Disha’s on-screen brother Sundar in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, refuted the accusations and referred to them as unfounded. In response to the rumours, Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, who plays Mrs. Roshan Singh Sodhi, stated that Disha sounded well when they last spoke.
Mayur told ETimes TV, “Aise bahut saare afwaayein aate rehte hain ismein koi sacchayi nahi hai (these kind of rumours keep doing the rounds in the media and there is no truth to it). She is hale and hearty and nothing of this is true. Everyday we get to hear baseless rumours about her but fans should not believe any of these.”

Jennifer said, “I am in touch with Disha on and off and I don’t think this is true. Agar aisa kuch hota toh pata chalta. I spoke to her towards the end of August because we both stay in the same vicinity. We spoke about our daughter’s kathak classes, she sounded absolutely fine. I think these are just rumours.”
For a very long time, the creators of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah have been looking for a new actor to play Dayaben. Since taking a pregnancy break in 2017, Disha has not made a comeback to the programme. Together with her spouse Mayur Padia, she gave birth to a girl in 2017 and then a son in May of this year.
Even while the producers haven’t yet found a replacement for Disha, they recently debuted a new Taarak Mehta. Shailesh Lodha, who performed the role for 14 years, has been replaced by Sachin Shroff.
