October 1, 2024: Bollywood actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda is recovering well after undergoing emergency surgery at Criti Care Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai, following an unfortunate incident involving his licensed firearm. On Tuesday, the actor accidentally shot himself in the leg due to a misfire while handling his revolver, but he is now out of danger.
In a heartfelt audio message released by Shiv Sena leader Krishna Hegde, Govinda expressed gratitude to his supporters. “Namaste, pranam. I am Govinda. Due to your blessings, my parents’ blessings, and the grace of my guru… I was shot, but the bullet has been removed. I thank the doctors here, especially Dr. Garwal. Thank you all for your prayers and support,” he stated.
Govinda is out of danger after gunshot wound
The accident occurred early Tuesday morning as Govinda was preparing to travel to Kolkata. His close aide, Shashi Sinha, provided insight into the incident, clarifying that the actor was organizing his firearm when it accidentally discharged. “He is out of danger and doing well. The injury is below the left knee. His daughter Tina is at the hospital, and he is in good spirits,” Sinha told reporters.
Tina Ahuja, the actor’s daughter, confirmed that her father underwent surgery to remove the bullet and will remain in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for a day as a precaution. Meanwhile, Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, who was away at the time of the incident, rushed back to be by his side.
As fans and colleagues express their relief at the actor’s recovery, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety when handling firearms, even by licensed owners.
