Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu, the 2021 Miss Universe, paid a beautiful tribute to past Indian Miss Universe winners Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta while taking her final walk at the Universe Dome in Eilat, Israel. Sandhu, who is the third Indian to bring the title back to India, looked gorgeous in a stunning black gown that featured pictures of Sen and Dutta from their respective winning moments.
The official Instagram page of Miss Universe shared a small clip of Sandhu’s final walk, captioned, “Moments before Harnaaz Sandhu takes her final walk as Miss Universe.” In the video, Harnaaz Sandhu can be seen holding back tears as she blows kisses in the air and stumbled a bit during the walk. The video also captures the emotional moment when Sandhu passed on the crown to the new Miss Universe, USA’s R’Bonney Gabriel.
As Sandhu walked on stage, her voiceover played, “I was 17-years-old when I first took the the stage and since then becoming Miss Universe was my goal. I’ve been given the megaphone on a worldwide stage to present the topic of menstrual equity before world leaders asking them to keep this conversation ongoing.”
Sandhu thanked the Miss Universe Organization for helping her make her voice heard. “Remember to live this year to the fullest because tomorrow is never promised,” Sandhu told Gabriel.
