April 24, 2024: Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest OTT offering is the most anticipated series on Netflix. The show is set to premiere next week on the OTT Platform and as ever the anticipation is on a high that this series will have the success formula Bhansali is known for . The series is set in the pre-Independent, British-ruled India and against the elite house of courtesans.
Heeramandi has a line up a brilliant star cast, and among them is the return of Fardeen Khan in a comeback role. The series features Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Sanjeeda Shaikh. The series also features Fardeen Khan, Adhyayan Suman and Shekhar Suman in pivotal roles.
On Wednesday, Netflix India hosted a premiere and many actors such as Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Rekha and Genelia Deshmukh, among others, graced the premiere. Genelia was among the first ones to share her review of Heeramandi. She took to her Instagram Stories and shared a photo with the acclaimed filmmaker along with her review.

“Just saw 2 episodes of Heeramandi and it has me craving for more. What a world, what a journey you take us through to Sanjay Sir. Mesmerised as always. Loved, loved, loved the entire cast and what a super effort by the crew too. Netflix, this is truly special,” Genelia wrote.
Esha Deol shared her reaction after watching some episodes of ‘Heeramandi‘. She wrote, I was left in awe of actor Fardeen Khan’s performance in the show. She wrote on Instagram, “Spectacular show. Welcome back, Fardeen Khan, proud of you,” and added a heart emoji. She posted a video of meeting Bhansali at the premiere and wrote, “In awe of you, Sanjay Leela Bhansali.”
Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar will start streaming on May 1. The trailer was unveiled earlier this month and it excited the fans to a time when courtesans reigned as monarchs. Through the legacies of courtesans and their clients, set against the turbulent backdrop of the Indian Independence struggle in the 1940s, the series investigates the cultural reality of the namesake area of Heera Mandi.
Tanishaa Mukerji called the show “an absolute must-watch”.
The series features Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chaddha, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Shaikh as tawaifs who go from having the Nawabs under their control to finding themselves fighting against English oppression. Fardeen Khan, Taha Shah Badussha, Shekhar Suman, and Adhyayan Suman play the roles of the Nawabs.
