Hotstar’s ‘Homeland’ If you haven’t watched it, watch it. Its a Binge Hero In one word the quality of writing is terrific. The performances of lead actors are brilliant, very real to their characters.
This is one series that has an excellent compelling plot and right from the word go… it is a hooker. The two main characters Carrie Mathison (played by Claire Catherine Danes an American actress, winner of three Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, and one of the 100 most influential people in the world, plus a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2015.) and Saul Berenson is brilliant, they show their strength as a resilient intelligence CIA officers who battle the the forces within the country and outside the country.
It is a story of drama, war, spy, espionage, romance, family, friendship and loyalty. Where can one find a concoction of so much yet every episode is gripping. And, you may not want to leave the home theater for once. Homeland, takes you to a journey right from America, Moscow, Islamabad, Afghanistan, Iran and what ploy at the political and intelligence agencies play. To retain, and gain power at the highest level.
The unique brilliance of “Homeland,” in the beginning is that it presented two main characters without revealing which of them we should root for or against. That lasted for a few seasons, and then Carrie became the central focus of “Homeland,” along with her longtime spy chief mentor Saul Berenson, played so brilliantly with terrific authenticity by Mandy Patinkin.
This final season’s storyline truly and edge of the seat moment, with America on the brink of a nuclear war with Pakistan. The finale is even more compelling watch- with two pivotal characters fighting for what they feel is right and with viewers torn about where to place their loyalties. Only this time, it’s not Carrie and Brody; it’s Carrie and Saul. In an interview to a leading daily in the Clarie Danes who plays the role of Carrie Mathison so daring and unapologetically ambitious in Homeland, spoke about her feeling when the curtains were down as she and saul were shooting for the last scene. She said it was emotional, “It’s not a casual scene. I think for me that was my cathartic moment when I realised it was over, because to say goodbye to it in its entirety is just too abstract and too huge. There were some tears – many of them – and we just hugged each other for a really long time.”
