Irrfan Khan was Shoojit Sircar’s Sardar Udham Singh, not Vicky Kaushal, The film maker revealed this in a recent chat with a media that his first choice was late Irrfan Khan for the role of Sardar Udham Singh. The role has gone to Vicky Kaushal.

In the chat Shoojit had stated that I was willing to wait for Irrfan as I felt he was best suited for the role.

Well, we too would have been excited to watch Irrfan in the role of Sardar Udham Singh.

Meaning the Vicky Kaushal Starrer movie’s post-production work on “Sardar Udham Singh”, begins from Monday, director of the film Shoojit Sircar has announced.

Sharing the update on the biopic on the Indian revolutionary on Twitter Shoojit wrote “When nature beckoned, We listened… We switched gears, From fast forward to slow motion… Now, there is a call again, An excitement, yet a caution . “And a hunger to reboot, With this feeling We begin, again… #SardarUdhamSingh Post production set to #BeginAgain, tomorrow – 8th June,” Sircar wrote on Sunday alongside a behind-the-scenes still from the film.

In a chat earlier Shooji Sircar had stated “We finished shooting on December 27 last year but haven’t got any work done since February,” reasoned Shoojit, who commemorating the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre in its centenary year, had quietly kicked off shooting in April 2019 in Russia. It has Vicky Kaushal playing a revolutionary, Udham Singh, who was hanged on July 31, 1940, for assassinating Michael O’ Dwyer over his role in the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, which resulted in around 100 dead and 1500 people injured.

On March 13th 1940, #SardarUdham singlehandedly assassinated Michael O’ Dwyer in London to honour the lives lost at the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

His story deserves justice onscreen too. Starring Vicky Kaushal, we will now see you in cinemas on 15th January 2021! With Vicky Kaushal in the boots of Irrfan place, it will be interesting to see how shoojit sircar makes his approach to direct his new lead in the story.
