In India, although constitutionally banned upper castes and lower castes sentiments, untouchability still exists in both rural and urban India. Jai Bhim boldly depicts these sentiments, which is still around. Jai Bhim Movie Review in one line, is a totally engrossing family entertainer about Justice well delivered.
The hard-hitting opening sequence of Jai Bhim, when a police officer is filtering the released prisoners based on their caste. The police officer at the gate asks each one of the prisoners who are getting released after their jail term, in the witness of their family who had come to take them back home, “nee endha aalu” (which caste do you belong to?) If they answer Dalits or from the tribal community, they are made to stand in a separate group while suspects from dominant caste groups are given a free hand and sent with those who had come to pick them up. For Dalits, false charges are again slapped against for other crimes and sent back to jail, the lower caste people are preyed on to close the pending cases.
Jai Bhim Movie Review: The film strips the India system naked, a bold and honest film
The film strips the India system naked, a bold and honest film, covering caste discrimination, politicians, law enforcement and justice structure, while questioning the so-called watchdogs of this society, the black sheep among advocates and police force, the selfish and self centered ones, on the other side you see Surya as self-less Advocate Chandru and Prakash Raj as honest police officer Perumal Samy to serve the man kind, it is between human to human, but the mottos differs.
Director Gnanavel is done a perfect job, Rao Ramesh, Prakash Raj, Rajisha Vijayan done their part, each one in the film did their best, Lijomol Jose as Sengeni looks fragile but so powerful with her terrific performance, Suriya showed that he had definitely matured as a actor, his eyes was expressing every dialogue more than his lips.
The touching closing scene in Jai Bhim, where the little girl sits with the crossed leg and holding the newspaper in her hand with pride and self-confidence, the very importance of education gets stressed in this scene “Ini Oru Vidhi Seivom” perfectly fits here.
