HomeLatest NewsKangana Ranaut makes a rough start to Lok Sabha aspirations

Kangana Ranaut, the fiery Bollywood actress and Emergency star known for her outspoken nature, finds herself at the center of a swirling controversy yet again. This time, the storm arises from derogatory remarks made by a Congress leader, Supriya Shrinate, aimed squarely at Ranaut, who recently emerged as the BJP’s candidate for the Mandi Lok Sabha seat.

The spark that ignited this heated exchange was a now-deleted Instagram post by Shrinate, featuring a picture of Ranaut alongside a caption that read, “Can someone tell what is the current rate in Mandi (market)?” The post, considered by many as derogatory, swiftly drew condemnation and led to its removal from Shrinate’s social media handle. In her defense, Shrinate attributed the post to unauthorized access to her accounts, emphasizing its inappropriateness and promptly deleting it.

This incident, however, wasn’t isolated. H. S. Ahir, the state joint co-ordinator of Kisan Congress, also found himself embroiled in controversy after making disparaging remarks about Ranaut, further intensifying the situation. The National Commission for Women (NCW) wasted no time in demanding strict action against both Shrinate and Ahir, branding their behavior as disgraceful and calling for immediate intervention from the Election Commission.

Responding to the brewing storm, Kangana Ranaut reiterated the significance of dignity for every woman and underscored her diverse contributions through various cinematic roles. However, amidst her response, the spotlight also shifted to Ranaut’s own political journey.

Kangana Ranaut What Makes Her Controversial Star?

Recently nominated as the BJP candidate from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Kangana Ranaut’s political ambitions have been met with both acclaim and scrutiny. Her open expression of willingness to contest from Mandi, should the BJP offer her a ticket, dates back to October 2022. Ranaut has been vocal about her admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attributing positive changes in the country since 2014 to his leadership.

Yet, amidst the political fervor surrounding her candidacy, a past controversy resurfaced, adding fuel to the fire. An old video from 2020 surfaced on social media, wherein Ranaut was heard referring to Urmila Matondkar as a “soft porn star.” This led to a fiery exchange between the two actresses, with Matondkar suggesting Ranaut should also address the drug trade in her home state of Himachal Pradesh. Ranaut, in turn, criticized Matondkar’s acting abilities, sparking further debate and division.

Matondkar, herself a former Congress candidate in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, who later joined the Shiv Sena, found herself entangled in the web of political and personal conflicts, underscoring the complexities of Indian politics.

As the controversy continues to unravel, social media platforms serve as battlegrounds for opinions, with users demanding accountability and transparency from all parties involved. The incident sheds light on the intersection of politics, social media, and personal beliefs, underscoring the need for responsible discourse and civility in public engagement.
