December 11, 2024: In a heartfelt tribute to one of Bollywood’s most iconic figures – Raj Kapoor, the Kapoor family gathered in New Delhi on Tuesday to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to commemorate the centenary of legendary actor-director Raj Kapoor’s birth. This momentous occasion marks the upcoming celebrations for the beloved star, with the family sharing a series of intimate photos from their meeting with the Prime Minister ahead of the grand event.

The Kapoor clan, including notable names such as Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Karisma Kapoor, and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, made their way to Delhi to personally extend the invitation. Also present were Neetu Kapoor, Bharat Sahni, Armaan Jain and his wife Anissa Malhotra, along with several other close family members. The gathering was a warm display of familial love and reverence, as the Kapoor family invited Modi to attend the Raj Kapoor Film Festival, which will be held in honor of the legendary filmmaker’s monumental contribution to Indian cinema.

The first set of official photographs shared by the family features a group photo with the men standing in the back and the ladies of the Kapoor family in the foreground with PM Modi. The gathering also included Nikhil Nanda, son-in-law of Amitabh Bachchan, and the grandson of Raj Kapoor’s sister, Ritu Nanda. Nitasha Nanda, his sister, was also seen at the meet.

She went on to announce the festival: “As we celebrate 100 glorious years of Dadaji’s artistry, vision, and contribution to Indian cinema, we honour the timeless impact of his legacy. We are proud to showcase his iconic films through the ‘Raj Kapoor 100 Film Festival,’ which will be held across 40 cities with 135 cinemas. #100YearsOfRajKapoor.”

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Raj Kapoor’s granddaughter, also shared her emotions from the meet, recalling how she had long wished to meet the Prime Minister due to his dynamic leadership. In her post, she wrote: “When honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji took the oath for the first time in 2014, I had really wished to meet him, purely owing to his dynamism and charisma. Ten years later, I had the privilege and the sheer honor of meeting him to celebrate my grandfather Shri Raj Kapoor ji, who has left behind his legacy and impeccable body of work.”
