HomeMovie ReviewLiger Review: A hyped movie that leaves you in utter disappointment

Liger Review: 1.5 /5. The movie certainly hasn’t lived up to its hype. It was touted to be a path-breaking film, and the right debut for Telugu Actor Vijay Deverakonda. The movie backed by Karan Johar and created by Puri Jagan was anticipated to be a mass entertainer. But it is a big let down. Vijay should have chosen a better script and film to make his debut. There is no transformation one would expect from a talent like him, he is shouting and sounds repeating himself like the Arjun Reddy he became popular.

The twitter review from across seem to be on the negative side, as they seem totally disappointed. Especially the young lot.

Liger Review: Disappointing Social Media and viewer reviews

Here is a sum up to the reviews that is coming out : Other than VD’s physical transformation, film has no plus. Horrible perf from Ananya. No villain character (Puri is d villain). 1st Hlf s atleast Bearable, 2nd Hlf is total crap. Forced Mike Tyson Climax sticks out. Full of Outdated scenes. WORST!

Liger utterflop. Puri giving a #WaatLagaDenge to people by his mediocre story. VD okay rest scrape.

The story revolves around (Vijay Deverakonda) who travels to Mumbai from Karimnagar with his mother Ramya Krishnan to receive MMA training. He works as a assistant in the MMA training sessions while waiting for the right opportunity to demonstrate his talent. Meanwhile, he develops feelings for a wealthy woman (Ananya Panday), but the relationship ends when there is a delicate disagreement.

Liger returns to his career and steps into the MMA ring. He wins the national title and earns a spot in the international MMA tournament. On this journey, Liger encounters Mike Tyson, the world boxing champion, and also wins his love back. The remainder of the story explains how Liger is tied to Mike Tyson and how he wins the world MMA championship.

Puri Jagan takes off the film in a promising manner, however, the impact fizzles out as he delivers very predictable stuff scene after another. Vijay’s characterisation stands out in the first half while the poorly written love narrative between the lead pair plays the spoilsport. As in a typical sports film template, “Liger” deals with the ambitious hero. In the training phase, the director downplays him as an underdog.

Vijay’s clash with rich counterparts and typical love track episodes are very predictable stuff from Puri Jagan and the team. Given the nationwide buzz, this film got from the beginning, this monotonous script and lackluster direction is unacceptable. Despite predictable narration, the first half is still able to watch.

The conflict point between the lead couple is awful; the eventual justification for the conflict is laughable. We can call out this film’s love track as one of the worst in Puri Jagan’s career. He has the capability of delivering engaging threads, and characterization with ease. That strength of Puri Jagan is a miss in “Liger”.
