Masakali vs Masakali 2, a Bitter Music Pill for Tanishk Bagchi, Rahman

After the  Masakali 2.0 was released, a recreated music version of the original created by AR Rahman for ‘Delhi 6’ featuring Sonam Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan the internet was flooded with critical view of the work. At first the original song composer AR Rahmann criticized  the work of the new version Masakali 2.0 which stars Marjaavaan duo Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria.

AR Rahman began the debate first and took to Twitter to express his vexation, several others backed the oscar winning musicians including Rangoli has now come out in his support and termed the Masakali 2.0 ‘cheap atrocious copy’ in her latest tweet.

She wrote, “Nothing worse for an artist when his/her genius work violently taken from them turned in to a cheap atrocious copy and sold for dimwits low IQ audience, art must cultivate the audience to enjoy fine work not ruin fine work to suit tacky gawar audience…”

one of the best audience post was ”How u feel to ruin good songs of 90s kids…. Bhagwan maaf nhi karega tumhe Your songs are more dangerous than corona”,

The remix song created by Tanishk is sung by Sachet Tandon and Tulsi Kumar. The remix version has not gone down well with many, including the original composer Rahman, lyricist Prasoon Joshi and film’s director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra , Rangolic and many others.

Infact Director @RakeyshOmMehra  on #ARRahman‘s #Masakali being remixed: “Even a badly-fried samosa also sells  in the market. It is a trend that hasn’t come from the people, but created by the music publishers who can’t create anything themselves.”

Take a look at the song here.

While the critics shouted, the maker of the remix Tulsi Kumar says, it is a work that took lot of thinking and effort. They said while it is not a comparison to the original, people must view it as a fresh approach to the song and a work by an artist. There are thousands of people who loved our work too says the makers of Masakali 2.0.

AR Rahman after his first post shared another post… he wrote enjoy the original

The debate continues. Will the critics win or the Masakali 2.0 wins time will tell.
