May 7, 2025: While, Shah Rukh Khan’s (SRK) stunning Met Gala debut was praised by netizens and celebrities alike, what left everyone amused, and fans especially when a reporter at the event asked SRK what is your name.
The social media went gaga over the SRK debut. “The King,” wrote filmmaker Karan Johar, sharing a photo of Shah Rukh’s outfit on his Instagram story.
But, what took the spotlight and shocked the SRK fans on Tuesday followed after a video of a reporter asking the Bollywood star to introduce himself at the Met Gala event in New York City went viral on social media.
In a tweet, Shah Rukh Khan wrote: Thx Sabyasachi & ur whole team for introducing me to the Met Gala. It’s not my ‘space’ but u made me feel so comfortable…becos u, like me, believe…Style & Fashion…is just being who you are. And all of u made me feel like a ‘K’!
Clips making the trending sport in the internet show reporters questioning the actor to introduce himself, seemingly ignorant of his filmy status. In one video, Shah Rukh can be seen calmly introducing both himself and designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee to the reporters gathered at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The incident triggered trolls from netizens, who slammed the red carpet interviewers for being “unprepared” and “disrespectful”.
“Saw the SRK red carpet interview – the girlies had no idea who they were talking to,” reads a post on X.
“What do you mean Shah Rukh Khan went to the Met Gala and people don’t know who he is,” posted another user.
Sharing a video of Shah Rukh being asked to step aside, an X user wrote, “Showing only 5 seconds of SRK at the Met Gala live is just disrespectful. He’s a king, he’s Shah Rukh Khan and Americans don’t deserve him. plus he’ll add too to Marvel, hope the rumours are true.”
Designed by couturier Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Shah Rukh’s all-black ensemble comprised a floor-length elongated coat, a silk shirt and wool trousers. A pleated satin kamarbandh, custom necklaces, a ‘K’ pendant, finger rings and a walking stick rounded off his look for the annual fashion gala.
The 2025 Met Gala red carpet has wrapped up the event. The annual star-studded gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City is a congregation of popular actors, musicians, models, designers, and more to mark the museum’s new spring Costume Institute exhibition.
The event in 2025 celebrated “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which will be on view from May 10th to October 26th; The new showcase explores the importance of clothing and style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora, and will be arranged by 12 characteristics of Black dandyism. The prominent Indian celebs who attended the met gala included Priyanka Chopra, Kiara Advani, Karan Johar and few others.
SRK earlier on expressed his anguish at the Pahalgham attack, in his tweet he wrote: Words fail to express the sadness and anger at the treachery and inhumane act of violence that has occurred in Pahalgam. In times like these, one can only turn to God and say a prayer for the families that suffered and express my deepest condolences. May we as a Nation, stand united, strong and get justice against this heinous act.
