Mrs Serial Killer Review: A Screaming Killer, Not a Crime Thriller
Is was the most anticipated crime thriller on Netflix every fan of Jacqueline were awaiting to watch. But, the show let’s you down. One sits down on the couch of the living or movie watching room, expecting and edge of a seat thriller, given the title has created a lot of anticipation. Alas!!! it has only few sparks. The one that stood out, is Manoj Bajpayee, even though he got very little to do, as it is Jacqueline overweight.
The Plot: The story is woven around a doctor played by Manoj Bajpayee and his wife Shona Played by Jacqueline, and a investigating police official Imran Shahid played by Mohit Raina. Featuring Jacqueline Fernandez, Manoj Bajpayee and Mohit Raina, Mrs. Serial Killer is a story of a doctor who gets framed for a series of murders and his wife sets out committing a crime exactly like the serial killer to prove her husband’s innocence. The crux of the show is how far would she go for love in the crime-thriller
In the opening, we get to see a murder investigation of 6 missing girls, and the discovery of the bodies of the girls found in a vintage home of the Doctor. Then we move on to the courtroom where, the first hearing of the murder case and the application for bail plea by the Doctor is rejected as all the evidences are pointed towards the doctor.
The game is to prove the doctor not guilty, and there is a concoction of a love triangle. While the characters in the series Imran Shahid played by Mohit Raina as ex lover of Shona and the role played by Manoj and Jacqueline are not top notch, but there is some element of twist and turn in the story keeps that does keep you hooked, even though at major portions you get to hear Jacqueline scream and shout.
While Jacqueline fans will love their idol’s avatar in the film, what is bound to let them down is the story. It is very unlike of a crime thriller, painfully slow , with many throwback scenes showing Shona Old relationship, her marriage and scenes that just doesn’t fit well in the story line. The screenplay is is very poor and so does the editing. You come across many occasions while watching that you would like to skip it.
In this crime thriller the writer does make the viewer keep guessing who is the real killer. But the climax, leaves you disappointed, sadly it is very unconvincing story and makes you think why did you start watching it after all. More than a crime thriller it is a psycho thriller. The story leaves you also very confused as it doesn’t establish the 6 girls were killed and what was the motive behind it, along with that the part of the lawyer.
