Naatu Naatu has created history for Indian Cinema, winning the best original song award at the Golden Globe Award. The 80th Golden Globe Awards ceremony in Los Angeles was hosted by comedian Jerrod Carmichael and it marked the beginning of Hollywood’s award season. Rajamouli took to Twitter to express his excitement, tweeting “SPEECHLESS – Music truly knows no boundaries.” He went on to thank the composer of “Naatu Naatu“, MM Keeravani, affectionately calling him “Peddanna”.

Shah Rukh Khan also tweeted his congratulations, saying “Sir just woke up and started dancing to Naatu Naatu celebrating your win at Golden Globes. Here’s to many more awards & making India so proud!!”

Ram Charan’s wife, Upasana Kamineni, who is expecting the couple’s first child, also posted on social media after the Golden Globes, mentioning that the song “Naatu Naatu” was shot in Ukraine.

Aside from RRR, other notable winners of the night included “The Banshees of Inisherin” for Best Musical/Comedy, “The Fabelmans” for Best Film (Drama), and “Abbott Elementary” for Best TV Series (Musical/Comedy).

The White Lotus also had a successful night, winning Best Limited/Anthology Series or TV Film, with Jennifer Coolidge winning Best Supporting Actress and Paul Walter Hauser winning Best Supporting Actor. Steven Spielberg won Best Director for “The Fabelmans” and Martin McDonagh won Best Screenplay for “The Banshees of Inisherin”. Cate Blanchett won Best Film Actress (Drama) for “Tar”.
