The National Awards 2022 has been declared. While the best actor awards were jointly shared by Ajay Devgn and Suriya for their performance in Tanaji the Warrior’ and Soorarai Pottru the best supporting actor award was won by Biju Menon for Malayalam film AK Ayyappanum Koshiyum. The spotlight was on Soorarai Pottru which won several awards.
Anurag Thakur, the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, tweeted on Friday morning to announce that the awards would be presented on Friday night once the jury members had turned in their reports to the Ministry.
It was also announced the Dadasaheb Phalke award will be announced later.
Tanhaji The Unsung Warrior also received significant accolades that night, while Soorarai Pottru took home three of the four top prizes.

Composer GV Prakash Kumar, who won the National Film Award for best music direction, tweeted after the announcement, thanking the team of his film Soorarai Pottru, and his father.
Dadasaheb Phalke Award to be announced later
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award, presented for “outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema”, will be announced at a later meet, the jury informed.
