Movie Pattas which released as the most anticipated film in Sankranthi ( today ) was touted to be an entertainer for both Dhanush Fans and movie goers during the festive days, elicited mixed reactions.
While one reaction from those who watched the film is that the director tried hard to make the chemistry between Dhanush-Mehreen combo work, but turned out not a very appealing one.
With Pattas, Durai Senthilkumar wants to do for Adimurai, a less heard of traditional martial art form from Tamil Nadu, what Indian did for Varmakalai and 7aum Arivu did for Bodhi Dharman
Story:
Based on ancient martial art Adi Murai, originated in Kanyakumari, the oldest martial art in Tamil Nadu which was present even before Kalari and practised by Cholas. Dhanush is seen playing dual roles of a father and son in the film. The film is all about preserving our ancient art. A typical commercial film that talks about a son taking revenge for his father’s death.
The movie revolves around a rivalry between exponents of two different martial arts disciplines being played out over the years.
Fans had a different point of view, as they went to praise their favorite hero. They were quite thrilled to watch their actor perform martial art convincingly on screen. It’s never easy to do martial convincingly on screen.
The story too, found to have resonated with Dhanush Fans. They lauded the story, and stated the treatment to the movie with flashback in the backdrop makes it a genuine attempt. For them the movie is a perfect mix of commercial and class.
Go watch it in theaters.
