A heartbreaking incident unfolded at a school in Singapore on Monday, as a devastating fire broke out, capturing the attention of the nation. Disturbing video footage quickly surfaced, showing emergency responders rushing to evacuate students, including Mark Shankar Pawanovich, the son of renowned Indian actor and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, Pawan Kalyan. In the aftermath of the tragedy, Pawan Kalyan and his brother, actor Chiranjeevi, traveled to Singapore to be by Mark’s side.
The fire, which erupted in a three-storey building located in Singapore’s River Valley area, rapidly spread to the second and third floors. As the thick smoke poured out, firefighters were seen breaking windows and assisting terrified students and staff to safety. The video footage showed the dramatic rescue efforts as black smoke filled the upper levels of the building, sending panic throughout the school.
The incident resulted in the tragic death of one child and left 19 others, including Mark Shankar, injured. Singapore’s Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded swiftly, working to contain the blaze. The fire took place at a facility where around 30 children were attending extracurricular activities, including cooking, theatre, and robotics workshops.?
Singapore’s Home Affairs Minister, K. Shanmugam, confirmed that a 10-year-old girl lost her life in the fire, and approximately 20 others, including 15 children, were injured. Among the injured was Mark Shankar, who suffered burn injuries to his arms and legs and is currently battling respiratory issues due to smoke inhalation. Medical experts have advised that he may require a bronchoscopy to assess any potential long-term damage from the smoke exposure.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, also expressed his support, sending comforting words to the family.
Pawan Kalyan further thanked everyone who offered prayers and well-wishes for his son’s recovery, including those who held religious ceremonies at temples on his behalf. He concluded by stating, “Mark Shankar is making steady progress, and we are deeply grateful for the blessings and good wishes.”
