Tuesday, June 16, 2026: The controversy surrounding Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy, a film reportedly inspired by actor Salman Khan’s blackbuck poaching case, has taken a fresh turn with producer Amit Jani serving a legal notice to veteran actor Govind Namdev over comments he recently made about the project.
The notice comes after Namdev publicly distanced himself from the film and alleged that he had been misled regarding its subject matter before agreeing to join the cast.
According to the actor, the project was initially introduced to him as a film with a religious backdrop. He later learned that the story would focus on legal proceedings connected to the high-profile blackbuck case involving Salman Khan. Namdev said he agreed to participate because he believed the film was based on events already available in the public domain.
Responding to the allegations, producer Amit Jani announced that a legal notice had been issued to the actor. The notice reportedly seeks a public apology within seven days and demands compensation of Rs 50 lakh for alleged damage caused to the production house.
Jani shared details of the action on social media, stating that legal proceedings would follow if the actor failed to comply with the demands outlined in the notice.
Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy is being produced under the banner of Jani FireFox Films and directed by Bharat S. Shrinate. The film’s teaser features actor Kashif Iqbal Khan in the lead role.

The project is already at the centre of a separate legal dispute involving Salman Khan. The actor recently moved the Delhi High Court seeking to restrain the film’s release, alleging that it unlawfully exploits his personality rights and presents misleading portrayals associated with him.
Earlier this month, a vacation bench of the Delhi High Court sought responses from the filmmakers and issued notices to producer Amit Jani, Akshay Pandey and other parties named in the petition. The matter is scheduled to be heard on June 19.
With legal challenges emerging on multiple fronts, the future of Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy now appears increasingly tied to ongoing court proceedings.
