Headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, Animal stars Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor and Triptii Dimri in pivotal roles.
In the forthcoming film, despite its overt depiction of violence and action, the trailer hints at a nuanced narrative centering around the complexities of a father-son relationship. Anil Kapoor portrays the role of the father, Balbir Singh, while the character of Arjun Singh is brought to life by Ranbir Kapoor.
During the trailer launch event, Ranbir Kapoor offered insights into the film, likening “Animal” to an adult-rated version of the movie “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.” He summarized the storyline as revolving around a man’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding his family—a fundamental theme at the heart of the film.
Delving deeper into his character, Ranbir Kapoor expressed that while he refrains from labeling it as darkness, the role he essays in “Animal” stands as his most intricate portrayal yet. He credited the director, Sandeep, for infusing multifaceted dimensions into each character, thereby making the role both challenging and exhilarating to embody.
Recounting the sequence of events that led to his acceptance of the role, the “Tamasha” actor revealed an initial disbelief when Sandeep approached him via text. However, a meeting ensued where Sandeep presented a photograph from Ranbir’s past, taken during his non-working days while participating in the Celebrity Cricket League. Sandeep expressed a desire to capture the expression that Ranbir bore in that picture, ultimately swaying Ranbir to take on the role. Reflecting humorously, Ranbir acknowledged the unexpected usefulness of his past idle days, jesting, “My days of unemployment were of some help after all.”
“Animal” marks Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s second directorial venture in Hindi cinema post the polarizing yet commercially successful “Kabir Singh,” which itself was a remake of his Telugu debut, the blockbuster “Arjun Reddy.”
