He is one reason to watch this movie. Hats off to the entire team for making such a heart-warming movie.

Review: Kaanekkaane explores how difficult it is to look someone you love in the eye and tell them you have wronged them. Every character in the film is crumbling under the weight of their own guilt. They go back and agonise over every decision they ever made in their lives, hoping they could have done something differently. But, the courage and heart to live with the choices they have made doesn’t come easy.

The film’s subtext is so thick that you can almost see it between every pause that characters take when their secrets begin to tumble out. You can read so much into the film, especially how excruciatingly hard it is for children to believe their parents are bad people.

All actors have delivered a strong performance, and make an impression regardless of screen-time. Aishwarya Lekshmi captures the vulnerability of her character Sneha, a heavily pregnant woman. Tovino Thomas does his best to channel the guilt of a man, who can’t live with his choices. And then we have Suraj Venjaramoodu, who outshines everyone. He wears his character’s old age and physical weakness in every frame. A small threat by the other person can leave him breathless but that doesn’t stop him from fighting for his dead daughter.

Maestro is about a talented musician who fakes being blind, gets entangled in a web of crime and deceit and what follows is a thrilling laugh riot.

Most of Maestro has been lifted frame-to-frame from Andhadhun, which is quite understandable, given how it’s best not to mess with mastery. Nevertheless, Merlapaka Gandhi and cowriter Sheik Dawood G introducing some changes, some of which are welcome. Among the other positives are J. Yuvaraj’s camerawork and S. R. Shekhar’s cuts, which succeed in both creating a visual appeal when the narrative dips while also keeping things moving at a good click despite the direction not always coming to the party.

Maestro Movie Review- Quite a laugh riot

Also, as earnest as Nithiin is, and as drop-dead gorgeous as Tamannaah and Nabha Natesh are, they simply can’t match up to how Ayushmaan Khurrana, Tabu and Radhika Apte brought so much to the table courtesy their expressions and body language.

Even the supporting players like Jisshu Sengupta, Sreemukhi, Harsha Vardhan, Mangli and Racha Ravi pale before their counterparts from the original. We wonder if this again has to do with the direction. And while some changes to the script are welcome, the others seem forced, merely added to show that we can do things differently.
