Rorschach Review: The movie shining star is Mammootty, even though the movie is perplexing on several levels. It doesn’t quite entirely fall into the categories of a psychological thriller or a horror thriller.
The movie contains some paranormal components. However, the story was a far away from being able to establish the cause of the protagonist’s psychiatric problems. Leaving questions, can the protagonist be considered a person with schizophrenia, in other words?
The main premise of the Mammootty-starring film Rorschach has nothing uncommon about it. It is about a weird, vengeful man arrives in a village .The distinction in this instance is that the protagonist is taking revenge on a deceased man.
Some psychologists employ the projective psychological test known as the Rorschach to analyse a subject’s personality characteristics and emotional state. The relationship between the tale and this test (or its title) was not adequately conveyed by the film writer.
Rorschach Review: Mammootty is the shining star in the film
Actor Mammootty isn’t afraid to play characters with dark shading. His character spends practically the whole movie of Rorschach literally in the “dark.” Dark colours are used inappropriately. Every frame’s colour ends up feeling identical to every other frame since Rorshchach has a consistent colour scheme.
Rorschach felt like a missed opportunity. It was written by Sameer Abdul, the scenarist of Iblis and Adventures of Omanakuttan, and directed by Nisam Basheer, whose debut feature was the troubled Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha. While exploring these people’ behaviours and crimes, the script makes a number of instances where it fails to use “common sense.” Its story has several unfinished threads.
As the spooky, eerie Luke Antony, Mammootty shines. Acting is also excellent from senior performers like Bindu Panickar, Kottayam Nazeer, and Jagadeesh. We should be grateful for Grace Antony and Sharafudheen’s controlled performances.
The story of Rorschach fails to enable the spectator to empathise with Luke Antony or the tragedy he experienced in Dubai, which is one of the film’s primary problems. The adversary, Dileep, is also concealed behind a mask, despite the fact that there have been numerous close-up images that identify the actor who performed the part of Dileep. The antagonist may have been portrayed in a more creative manner by the director and cinematographer. This particular individual, around whom the entire story revolves, is not given enough depth in the movie.
The movie contains a few stylized action scenes. It also aims to investigate the psychological tricks people use. Rorschach, however, lacks the momentum that its plot calls for (this writer had some occasional yawns while watching it). Overall, this reviewer found the movie to be dull and below ordinary.
