Mumbai/Vadodara, April 15, 2025 — Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has once again found himself at the center of a disturbing security scare. A 26-year-old man from Gujarat’s Vadodara district was traced by Mumbai Police after allegedly sending a death threat via WhatsApp, vowing to bomb Khan’s car and breach his residence.
The sender, identified as Mayank Pandya, hails from a village in Waghodia taluka and was found to be mentally unstable and undergoing medical treatment, according to officials. While he has not been arrested, Pandya has been served a notice under Section 351(2)(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for criminal intimidation, and must appear before authorities when summoned.
Threat to Salman Khan Sent to Police Helpline
The Mumbai Traffic Police received a chilling WhatsApp message on Sunday, threatening to blow up Salman Khan’s car and assault the actor at his Bandra residence. Police responded swiftly, filing a case and tightening security around the actor’s Galaxy Apartments home.
“Upon investigation, it was found the message originated from Gujarat,” said Rohan Anand, Superintendent of Police, Vadodara. A team from Mumbai, along with local police, visited the suspect’s home. “The man was found to be mentally unstable and undergoing psychiatric treatment. He was not arrested but issued a legal notice to cooperate with further inquiries,” Anand added.
Ongoing Threats and Past Incidents
This isn’t the first time Khan has faced threats to his life. In April 2024, unidentified gunmen opened fire outside his home, sending shockwaves through the industry. The incident was followed by revelations that members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang had plotted an attack on the actor.
Khan, who remains a high-profile figure in Indian cinema, has received Y-Plus security cover from the government, given the consistent threats to his safety. His fallout with the Bishnoi gang stemmed from the alleged blackbuck poaching case, which has lingered over his public image for years.
Security Tightened Once Again for Salman Khan
Following the latest incident, security around Salman Khan’s residence has been increased once again, with law enforcement remaining on high alert. While the suspect in the recent case may not have been acting under an organized threat network, the episode underscores the ongoing risks faced by the Bollywood icon.
