The South film industry is mourning the loss of two great talents as veteran actor Sarath Babu and music talent Raj, of the popular music director duo Raj and Koti, passed away recently. Sarath Babu, known for his remarkable performances in both Telugu and Tamil cinema, succumbed to multi-organ failure at a private hospital in Hyderabad. He was 73 years old.

Sarath Babu, who was last seen in Pawan Kalyan’s blockbuster film ‘Vakeel Saab’, had been unwell for some time. Earlier this month, his condition deteriorated, and he was admitted to the AIG Hospitals in Hyderabad. Unfortunately, he developed sepsis, which severely affected his kidneys, lungs, liver, and other vital organs, ultimately leading to his demise. The news of his passing was confirmed by his publicist, resulting in an outpouring of condolences from across the world.

Sarath Babu Leaves Behind a Legacy of Brilliant Performances

Born as Satyanarayana Dixit in Amadalavalasa, Andhra Pradesh, in 1951, Sarath Babu began his acting career in 1973 and quickly rose to prominence. He made his debut in Telugu cinema with the film ‘Rama Rajyam’ and later ventured into Tamil cinema with K Balachander’s ‘Pattina Pravesam’ in 1977. It was his performance in the Tamil film ‘Nizhal Nijamagiradhu’, where he starred alongside the legendary Kamal Haasan, that catapulted him to fame. Sarath Babu also collaborated with Rajinikanth on several projects throughout his career.

In recent times, Sarath Babu captivated audiences with his portrayal of a pivotal character in Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Vakeel Saab’. His presence on the screen will be greatly missed by fans and colleagues alike.

Alongside the loss of Sarath Babu, the South Indian film industry also mourns the untimely demise of Raj, one half of the renowned music director duo Raj-Koti. Raj, whose birth name was Saluri Koteswara Rao, passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest following a fall in the bathroom. He was 68 years old.

Music Talent Raj Leaves South Film Industry in Grief

Raj and Koti, known for their melodious compositions, created music for over 180 films during the 1980s and early 1990s. Their partnership was instrumental in shaping the success of many films, including those of Megastar Chiranjeevi in the initial phase of his career. The duo split during the mid-90s, but their contributions to the industry remain cherished.

Megastar Chiranjeevi expressed his condolences over Raj’s demise, acknowledging the significant role Raj-Koti’s music played in his early films. He took to Twitter to share a heartfelt note, stating, “It came as a shock to know that ‘Raj’ is no more. Raj, who was extremely talented, played a major role in the success of my films by creating many wonderful popular songs that brought me closer to the audience. His untimely demise is a great loss to the music world. My deepest condolences to all his fans and family members.”

The South film industry has lost two remarkable talents whose contributions will be remembered and cherished.
