December 17, 2024: In a fierce Instagram post, Sonakshi Sinha has fired back at actor Mukesh Khanna for his controversial remarks regarding her inability to answer a question on the Ramayana during a 2019 appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). Khanna had recently blamed Sonakshi’s father, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, for allegedly not educating her about the epic.
In the 2019 episode, Sonakshi was asked who Hanuman brought the Sanjeevani booti for in the Ramayana—a question she couldn’t answer correctly. However, Khanna reignited the debate during an interview with Siddharth Kannan, where he indirectly referred to Sonakshi, suggesting it was her father’s fault that she didn’t know the answer.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Sonakshi wasted no time addressing Khanna’s statements. “Dear Sir, Mukesh Khanna ji… I recently read a statement you made saying that it’s my father’s fault I did not answer a question about the Ramayana correctly,” she began. “Firstly, let me remind you there were two women on the hot seat that day who didn’t know the answer to the same question, but you choose to keep taking my name. For reasons which are quite obvious.”
Sonakshi’s frustration was palpable as she explained the human tendency to “blank out” under pressure. “Yes, I may have blanked out that day, a human tendency,” she continued, “but clearly, you have also forgotten some of the lessons of forgiveness and letting go taught by Lord Ram himself.”
She went on to highlight the irony of the Shaktimaan actor’s remarks in light of Lord Ram’s famous capacity for forgiveness. “If Lord Ram can forgive Manthara, Kaikeyi, and even Ravan, surely you can let go of this extremely small thing in comparison… not that I need your forgiveness, but I definitely need you to stop bringing up the same incident again and again.”
Sonakshi Sinha Strong Reply to Actor Mukesh Khanna’s Remarks about her Upbringing
Sonakshi Sinha also addressed Khanna’s implied criticism of her father’s upbringing, firmly defending the values instilled in her “The next time you decide to say anything about the values my father has instilled in me… please remember it’s because of those values that I have only said what I said, very respectfully, after you decided to make some distasteful statements about my upbringing,” she wrote, closing with “I wish you well.”
The Shaktimaan actor had made these remarks in the context of a broader conversation about the importance of moral values, citing the need for figures like his beloved Shaktimaan to guide the youth of today. When questioned about Sonakshi’s Ramayana blunder, he took a jab at her, remarking, “Luv Kush is the name of their bungalow. People got angry, ‘She doesn’t know.’ I said it’s not Sonakshi’s fault; it’s her father’s fault. Why did you let them be so modern?”
Sonakshi Sinha’s powerful response has sparked a wave of support, with fans and followers praising her poise in handling Khanna’s disparaging comments.
